The only light that she had was Evret, a royal guard who she felt was the only person in her life who had shown her true kindness.įAIREST spends a lot of time with the toxic relationship between Levana and Evret. She was very privileged to be a princess, but her parents rarely interacted with her, and her older sister, Channary, was cruel to her. Readers learn quickly that Levana didn’t have the happiest childhood. This book dives deep into Levana’s character, emotions, history, motivations and mindset, and thus enhances the other books in the series. It takes place years before the events of CINDER, when Levana was a teenager and young adult. The short series installment centers on Levana, the series’ main antagonist. FAIREST is novel 3.5 in Marissa Meyer’s THE LUNAR CHRONICLES series and acts as a prequel to CINDER. Well, if this doesn’t convince you to pick the book up, I don’t know what will. So far, it has an astonishingly high rating of 4.26 stars on the platform, as rated by 197k+ readers. The book turned out to be one of my favourite reads from 2022 and that’s one reason why you will certainly see me talking and writing a lot about it.īut it’s not just me, readers all over the world loved this book equally, so much so that Carrie Soto is Back also won the Goodreads Best Historical Fiction Award 2022. Once I went through that emotional and highly satisfying ride, there was simply no going back for me. The latest in her kitty – Carrie Soto is Back is no exception to it. She is one author who needs no introduction and if you still haven’t read her yet, I urge you to pick up any book and you won’t be disappointed! That’s how magical and striking her writing is. Her stories are always emotional and very much character based and I always end up loving each and every work by her. Taylor Jenkins Reed is one of my favourite authors, a sort of an auto-buy if you will. – Taylor Jenkins Reid, Carrie Soto is Back “We live in a world where exceptional women have to sit around waiting for mediocre men.” This book delivers strong female friendships, deliciously thorough groveling, and a well-drawn, dynamic secondary cast. Katherine knows her mind and desires, and Preston’s arrogance/dominant tendencies make a safe space for her to explore who she is behind the society mask. I loved every word on every page of this book (except for one unfortunate “mushroom-shaped” description we can pray gets edited out before the book is published). With the pressure to marry behind them, Katherine and Preston find they’re more suited than either wanted to believe – but can their attraction to one another overcome the ambitions that threaten to tear them apart? Preston Clarke has sworn off marriage in favor of growing the family empire his father nearly demolished with gambling debts, but his attempt at a casual fling lands him firmly in the arms of the woman he just escaped. Three-sentence summary: When the man Katherine thought she was betrothed to informs her in no uncertain terms that he won’t be honoring the contract, our girl resolves to let loose before resubmitting to the marriage mart. The Bride Goes Rogue sizzles with chemistry, female empowerment, and enough dirty talk to fill a dictionary.
